Mounjaro is a new injectable medication now available on the NHS for eligible patients living with obesity and related health conditions. Due to high demand and limited supply, strict national criteria have been set to ensure it is offered to those with the greatest clinical need. At the Swan Practice we will contact directly those eligible so there is no need to contact us to request it.
Who is eligible?
To be considered for Mounjaro, patients must meet both of the following:
– A Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or above
(or 37.5 for some ethnic backgrounds due to higher clinical risk)
And at least four of the following health conditions:
– Type 2 diabetes
– High blood pressure (hypertension)
– High cholesterol (dyslipidaemia)
– Cardiovascular disease
– Obstructive sleep apnoea
These criteria are set nationally and apply to all NHS practices.
What happens next?
Our clinical team is currently reviewing patient records to identify those who meet the eligibility criteria. If you are eligible, we will contact you directly to discuss next steps. There is no need to call the practice.
Not eligible?
If you do not meet the criteria for Mounjaro, we can still support you. There are a range of local weight management services available, and our team can help you access them.
